Tough Talk: Who are we? Are we Powerlifters? Entertainers? Motivational speakers?
Well, yes and no is perhaps the best answer. We are all of the above – but that is not the
true heart of who we are and why we are together as a team. Tough Talk are first and
We are people that tell the story of the good news of Jesus Christ. Everyone in the
Tough Talk team has had a life changing experience, and we believe that our hearts were
changed by the loving presence of God’s Holy Spirit, through the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe in One God, the God who created all things. We believe that this God came
to earth as a man in Jesus Christ to pay the price for all our sin and to restore us to a right
relationship with Himself.
When God created us and the world, he made it perfect. But God gave mankind free will.
In his love for us, he did not make us like robots, but gave us the opportunity to choose
to receive him as our Lord and Saviour, or reject Him and choose to follow our own way.
The bible tells us that when mankind rejected God and chose to follow his own path, sin
entered into the world. We are all born into that sinful world.
Jesus said “Enter ye in at the strait gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that
leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate,
and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Matthew
The Bible tells us that none of us are perfect and that we have all fallen short of God’s
standards. We have all made mistakes in life and we have all chosen to live life our way
and not God’s way. Maybe you know that if you stood before the Maker of Heaven and
Earth right now, you would be ashamed of things you had done, thought or said.
However, the story doesn’t end there. The good news is that “For God so loved the
world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not
perish, but have eternal life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the
world; but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:16-17)
And God’s saving grace is available to you today:
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart
that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shall be saved” (Romans 10: 9)
If you have been reading this, and you know you do not have peace in your life, if you
are tormented by fear, panic attacks, depression or emptiness – there is an answer. If you
have a fear of death, or if you don’t know what would happen next if today was your last
day on earth – there is an answer. Jesus assured us ‘That whosoever believeth in Him
should not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:15). By his death on the cross, he paid the
price for our passage to heaven and to God – to peace, to no more fear, to no more hurt,
are made a new creation – we can start over and all thinm can change. “Therefore if any
man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away : behold, all things are
become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). You can ask the Lord Jesus Christ into your life right
now, just pray this simple prayer and let us know what you have done:
Father God, forgive me for all the wrong things I have done in my life. Please come into
my heart and be Lord of my life. Give me peace for the future and give me the power to
do the right things in life. Amen
